54 packs of moose burger...mmm good!

We spent the morning in church and then washed and unloaded the motor home, unloaded the boats, winterized the Klammath and the Bayliner, and now we are unloading all the goods we brought in. As soon as Steve gets in he will be making jam, baking caribou ribs, and making pico de gallo salsa. It never ends...winter will give us a break, we hope! Actually, we will be purging our home of all unnecessary stuff this winter. After blending our two families we have way more than our house can hold, so we are going to make a project of getting rid of junk this winter, old toys, clothes, furniture, etc. We also have to spend the better part of tonight preparing for the big day...October 6th. We do as much as we can to save $, we meet with Roy tomorrow to go over what we put together because I leave for Atlanta on Tuesday, yehoo!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. We had a lot of fun and frolicking, even with all the work!
Take care, Heather

They're off...to EXPLORATIONS ;-)

HAPPY FRIDAY!

The kids have a school wide exploration day today. Marina is doing puppets, probably something to do with Club Penguin, and Hunter is making Churros & hot chocolate, yummy! We had a great morning at the Brekke house finishing homework and making birthday cards. Our kids go to their other parents after school...so Steve and I have the weekend alone. I love our schedule, family time and husband & wife time. The only thing that would make it better would be...well, we will find out in twelve days! Of course we will be working our butts off to winterize the two boats and the motor home during our home alone time. Hope the rain will exit stage left.

I leave for Atlanta on Tuesday for a Career Pathways conference. I feel very lucky that the university is sending me. It should be a lot of fun along with work. I will be home late Saturday night. Steve has the kids alone, yehoo!

Have a great weekend everyone!
Happy trails, Heather

Hunter at the Kincaid Fun Run

Happy weekend!

Just a quick blog to say how proud I am of Hunter. He ran a 1 1/2 mile race at Kincaid Elementary this morning, and it was all his idea! Hunter has come such a long way with running this year. I bought him a small McDonald's yogurt cone after to cool off, he sooo deserved it!
The race had three long hills...
Hunter was exhausted by the end!
Congratulations to all the runners, especially mine!

We have moose...

Success...

We will be eating good.
Brekke's Alaskan Outdoor Butcher Shop
Mark got the second bull, in the puckerbrush.

Mark is a happy hunter!

After blazing trail to the moose,
the work really begins.
Finally quarters and meat bagged for travel.
Did Mark make a wrong turn?
Finally back at camp with
lots of meat for the freezer!
YAHOO!!!

For Marina...;-)

Who is obsessed with Club Penguin & Rockhopper!
Hunter earned his Rockhopper yesterday,
by reading an 85 page book in 2 hours!
He is a babe & he loves to read;-)

A hunting he will go...

Steve just left for the Denali Highway
about a half hour ago!
We got up at three this morning
to get him off and running before daylight.
First things first though, coffee in bed and lounge time.
He is sooo good to me. I love our time in the morning.
I was crying when he left...
he was yelling I love you all the way up Lake Otis.

I am going to my dear friend Luke's baptism today
and that is the extent of my plans.
Home alone and what to do?
Laundry, clean, organize, nah, I am going to take it easy.

I have been doing a lot of open houses the last week,
I will be next week too.
I love my job.
It's fun getting out and talking with parents & kids about life & opportunities.
I hope everyone in ANC is enjoying this drizzly weekend.
Happy trails to all our friends & family,
Hugs, Heather

Alaska State Fair 2009

After a nice Saturday evening with Kendra & Jeremiah, we decided to go to the fair together on Sunday. We got there at 10 am and had a really good time;-) We had ultra beautiful weather and free tickets for all...even free parking, what fortune! Thank you Alaska Airlines, Chuck n Doreen, and UAA!
Marina wanted to go on rides I could not believe.
She was trying new things and having fun!
It was Jeremiah & Marina upside down on the Apollo.
Hunter was a little more reserved.

A cute rock painting exhibit.

Kendra & Stitch...
The famdangly....
They loved the baby chicks...
The kids made furry friends...
Miss Priss for Miss Kendra!

Kendra & Jeremiah took off early.
Marina shot her first realistic full size weapon.
Then off to the National Guard obstacle course.
The Deadliest Catch display...
We went to the family tent to hang out!

The end!

Guess what I just got from Fed Ex...

I am writing this blog from my new Dell Studio 17 laptop.
OMG, what an incredible machine.
It does all the thinking and fast, yehoo! ;-)

We did not get a moose, but Steve & I spent
a wonderful time out in the middle of the woods together.
I got incredible pictures on the other laptop I will share later...

Thank you Kendra for taking care of Lucky.
Thank you to mom and dad for taking care of Hunter.

Kendra came over to drop the key last night.
Her and Jeremiah are coming over today to visit & have dinner.
An incredible dinner with homegrown fried zucchini.
Marina is beautiful with her hair down.
Hunter is a cheezeburger without the fries!
